Come Celebrate The Joy of Kink
Kink and BDSM can be among the most joyful, exciting, and fulfilling activities that two (or more) consenting adults can share.
Welcome to the Joy of Kink
Willkommen. Bienvenue. Welcome.
Thank you for visiting the Joy of Kink, a sex-positive blog about alternative sexuality.
It’s a site that’s all about kink with its many wonderful forms of expression. From our perspective, fantasy, roleplay, ageplay, cosplay, fetish, tantra, poly, exhibitionism, voyeurism, and BDSM, are all part of the world of kink.
Standard procreative sex, the kind sanctioned by authorities like the Catholic Church, is not kink. That specific kind of sex is not our topic. Everything else, all the other myriad of sexual desires and deviations, those are the topics we will be discussing.
The world of kink can be a place where untold pleasures are unlocked. But, it can also be a world that is both scary and intimidating to even fantasize about, or consider. It can be more frightful still to enter. We are here to help you with that, if you wish.
Kink’s new popularity
With the surprising large popularity of the 50 Shades of Grey trilogy, there’s been an increased interest from people who got their first look at the world of BDSM and kink from that series.
However, it’s not like E.L. James has reinvented the wheel with her trilogy. A very short generation ago, a movie called The Secretary served to increase kink awareness. Before that, there was The 9 1/2 Weeks, and Anne Rice’s Sleep Beauty series. Earlier still, was the Story of O. Dare I say how far back Venus in Furs was published?
It seems to me that people across the world are continually finding hidden and submerged desires and sexual interests. Periodically, there are catalysts that serve to bring about (more or less) a mass movement towards heightened awareness in alternative sexuality.
Just as the sexual revolution of the 1960’s and early 1970’s spawned a groundbreaking book on sexuality named The Joy of Sex, it seems to me that the more recent revolutions in sexuality call for new source material. And, a new medium too.
With that in mind, I proudly present to you, the Joy of Kink blog. As the host of the Kit Kat Klub says in the musical Cabaret:…
“Today’s unspeakable perversion is tomorrow’s kink, is next week’s good clean fun.”

Even if it might not always appear so at first glance, and despite how our world may be portrayed in sensationalist TV dramas, kink and BDSM are really all about trust. Intimacy. Fantasy. And, ultimately, the satisfaction of our deepest sexual desires.
Don’t we all benefit when there are more of those things in our lives?
Chief Editor ~ Joy of Kink
Kink has brought immeasurable amounts of joy and fulfillment to my life.
Back when I discovered kink, there were no guidebooks. There was no kink community to seek out, no munches or social events for kinksters, and certainly no online resources. My earliest (and some of my best) sex education came from the Joy of Sex by Alex Comfort.
The world has grown and changed a lot since that book was released. A new generation is discovering kink through Tumblr and other online sources. Or perhaps, they learn of their kinky desires reading free smut on their kindle.
No matter how you’ve discovered your own kinky side, even if you haven’t found it yet, the Joy of Kink is intended to be a sex-positive resource. It’s all about celebrating the real joy of kink in today’s world.
I always appreciate your questions and comments. Criticism is even welcome, if you feel it’s deserved, as long as it’s constructive.
