Hardy Haberman – A Living Leather Role Model

There’s a lot of talk about “Old Guard” and their rules and protocols. Some of the talk may be truth, a lot is myth, of that I have no doubt. If there’s anyone I know that lives the sort of life the Old Guard was said to live, it’s Mr Haberman.

If I were to look around for an archetype of a Leatherman, the epitome of what it means to be a leader in the Leather community, Hardy Haberman would be an outstanding candidate. Certainly, there are others that come to mind as well. I mean absolutely no disrespect to other outstanding Leathermen. But, Mr Haberman’s background as an author, educator, and activist, is very hard to match.

Although I’ve never met him in person, I still hold out hope our paths will cross, perhaps at a future IML. I do own three of Hardy Haberman’s books: Family Jewels: A Guide to Male Genital Play and Torment, More Family Jewels: Further Explorations in Male Genitorture, and Playing With Pains.

The other books he has authored are on my wishlist. I’m really quite interested in Shouts in the Wilderness: Daily Meditations for Leatherfolk. While I don’t share the same faith as Hardy, I find the excerpts of this book that I’ve read to be both thoughtful, and thought provoking.

We’ve been Facebook friends for a couple of years as well.((that’s where I read the book excerpts – Hardy Haberman)).  His politics align well with my own, and Mr. Haberman’s feed is very political. He’s a great follow!

I tip my cap to you Hardy Haberman. Everything I’ve known, or have seen of you, indicates you are a man of integrity and of real faith. You provide a real role model for young aspiring Leathermen…

My best wishes to you in your political work!
